Molykote coatings are dispersions of solid lubricating substances—such as molybdenum disulfide—combined with finely distributed organic or inorganic binding resins in solvent solutions. Designed as high-performance lubricants, they provide permanent lubrication and meet demanding operating conditions that conventional lubricants cannot withstand. Typical applications include small components subjected to high loads, low sliding speeds, oscillating movements, or exposure to extreme temperatures.
Molykote coatings deliver outstanding performance by significantly reducing wear and ensuring resistance to high pressure, as well as to chemical and environmental agents. The lubricating film they create—particularly in terms of pressure resistance—often exceeds the yield strength of most metals.
As a corrosion protection solution, Molykote coatings can effectively replace environmentally harmful surface treatments such as chrome, nickel, or cadmium plating. They are easy to apply using standard painting techniques, even in extremely thin layers. Depending on the application, they can be air-dried or oven-cured. Proper surface pretreatment further enhances the film’s durability and adhesion.
