BLACK-TECH®

Black Coating for Stainless Steel and Aluminum

Black-Tech® is a thermosetting, black-colored, lubricating lacquer based on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in an organic binder. Once applied and cured, this lubricating coating offers the following features:

  • Low coefficient of friction
  • Smooth, stick-slip-free motion at low speeds
  • Long service life
  • Excellent wear resistance
  • Superior corrosion protection
  • Outstanding resistance to chemicals and oils

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

Black-tech® reduces friction and wear in sliding metal-to-metal or metal-to-plastic contacts.

It is particularly suitable for cost-effective coating of small and compact components such as cylindrical pins, shafts, seat belt parts, and both civilian and military firearms.

Black-tech® is also used as a lubricating lacquer for components in electromechanical and precision engineering applications—for example, sliding guides, springs, and magnet armatures. Thanks to its excellent resistance to chemicals and oils, as well as its superior corrosion protection, Black-tech® is ideal for use in the presence of fluids or in harsh, chemically aggressive environments.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Before coating, surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased, and must be completely free from oil, grease, water, corrosion, or scale deposits. To improve coating adhesion, it is recommended to roughen the surface by sandblasting. Excellent adhesion can also be achieved through chemical pretreatment, such as phosphating—particularly recommended when enhanced corrosion protection is required.
