Dehydrogenation

Restoring elasticity to metals by eliminating hydrogen

Dehydrogenation is a supplementary treatment used to eliminate hydrogen-induced brittleness by means of an oven heated to a temperature not exceeding 200°C. This process is essential when the treated components will be subjected to mechanical stress or tension, or when they must retain their elasticity. The most typical example of a component requiring dehydrogenation is a spring. This treatment is always agreed upon with the customer based on the specific technical requirements outlined in the supply contract.
