Fosfatazioni e trattamenti superficiali dei metalli di elevata qualità
Endurion
AIM
It is a non-electrolytic chemical treatment that can be defined as an inorganic post-phosphatation seal carried out on pieces that have been zinc-phosphatated beforehand. The purpose of the treatment is to seal the capillaries and micro cavities of the phosphate layer, removing any roughness and micro fissures and granting the component smooth-sliding and anti-wear properties that are clearly superior, also minimising the possibility of mechanical damage of the base metal, which may cause scratches and cracks.
As everyone knows, scratches and fissures in the metal lead to anodic areas, since the corrosion inhibitors have a difficult time reaching them, so that the corrosive process starts and expands in the micro cracks present in the metal.
A smooth and mechanically intact metal surface is a better guarantee for corrosion resistance. Moreover, since it is basically non-conductive, the phosphate layer sealed in such a manner isolates the metal for electro-chemical corrosion.

DESCRIPTION
The treatment consists of a heavy phosphate coating made of zinc phosphates according to the BSI BRITISH STANDARD 3189, consisting of a micro-crystalline layer of zinc phosphate and iron with thickness equal to 6-8 microns. When sizing the piece, you need to take into account the fact that the phosphate deposit takes place partially at the expense of the base metal which, for a fraction ranging from 1/2 to 2/3 of the layer thickness, is in relief compared to the original size of the component. After the phosphate coating, the Endurion treatment is carried out. This treatment entails dipping the component in a solution of tin salts, according to the times and methods prescribed by the approved cycle.
TESTS AND CHECKS
THICKNESS
The thickness is measured by means of the magnetic method according to STANDARD UNI ISO 2178. The thickness of the layer (including the phosphate one ) must not be less than 8 microns in total, and it must be measured on the number of pieces specified by the procedures and based on the size of the batch.
ADHERENCE
This is conducted in compliance with STANDARD UNI ISO 2819.
When rubbing the coating according to the methods indicated in the standard, there must not be any flaking off of the deposit.
APPEARANCE
The treated components must have a uniform appearance, with no colour changes or powder deposits.
CORROSION TEST
The test consists in exposing the components in salt mist, according to STANDARD UNI ISO 9227.
Rust concentrations visible to the naked eye and at a normal reading distance must not appear before 200 hours of exposure. REFERENCE STANDARDS : UNI ISO 2178 / 2819 / 9227 BSI BRITISH STANDARD 3189.
